Spring has finally arrived in Minnesota. At least, I think it has… it was freezing just a week ago. But my hostas are starting to peek through the soil, and the days are slowly getting warmer, which feels like a win.

Every spring, I look at my closet and realize it’s basically a collection of black, gray, beige, dark green… and more black. That’s when I start getting the urge to bring a little color back into my life. We see this same shift in our boudoir clients too.

During the winter, rich, dark jewel tones tend to be the favorite. But as the snow melts, we start seeing more light colors, soft tones, and florals making their way into boudoir photoshoots.

To celebrate the end of winter and the start of spring, let’s dive into some spring-inspired boudoir photography ideas. We’ll highlight pieces from our studio closet as well as a few favorites you can add to your own lingerie collection for your next boudoir photoshoot.

Lush Green

Spring is that magical time when Minnesota’s brown, dreary landscape transforms into lush green tree canopies that will soon shade us from the hot summer days. Green is a color that feels fresh and full of life, making it perfect for spring boudoir photography. It mirrors that almost magical shift we see every May, when everything goes from dull and gray to vibrant and alive in just a few weeks.

While many of the green pieces in our style closet lean toward deep emerald tones, we do have a few lighter options as well. But honestly, emerald green is an absolute stunner for a boudoir photoshoot. Our style closet is well stocked with green lingere, from long sleeve, two piece sets, and stunning bodysuits. We love green for boudoir so there's no shortage in the Belle Marie Boudoir studio!

This one from Shein screams spring with the light green, embroidered florals, and playful ruffles!

Lush green that will make you feel as vibrant as a sunny spring day. The corset top accentuates your shape, and the fitted silhouette is more flattering than the shapeless flowy babydoll styles while still giving you some extra coverage.

Pretty in Pink

Name a more classic spring color than pink! From soft and romantic light pink to energetic and bold hot pink, you can't go wrong brightening your boudoir with this classic color. Our studio closet has more than just pink lingerie too! Add some dusty rose with our flowing tulle robe or channel your inner Victoria's Secret Angel with our fluffy pink wings.

Feeling Blue in the Best Way

When you think of spring, your mind probably goes to fresh green leaves and colorful florals. But as a Minnesotan, I also think of those clear blue skies between spring rain showers and the sparkling deep blue of our many lakes. Blue is one of those colors we always gravitate toward for boudoir photography, and for good reason.

Blue looks great on just about everyone. I once asked a client if there were any colors I should avoid when selecting some lingerie pieces for her session. She told me friend's had told her she doesn't look good in blue. I took one look at her stunning large blue eyes and knew she would look incredible in blue. I grabbed some pieces for her to test and she ended up loving a blue set the most!

Our style closet is full of beautiful shades, from soft baby blue to bright cobalt and deep navy. If you love blue, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from for your boudoir photoshoot.

White isn't just for Bridal Boudoir

This is one of the top underrated colors for boudoir lingerie. A white lingerie set gives a clean and fresh look that will brighten the feel of any set! When you think spring, usually we go to pastels, but think of the soft white clouds of a beautiful spring day or the childhood joy of making a wish while blowing the white fluffy seeds of dandelion flowers.

Your're not limited to lingerie to add some fresh white to your boudoir phototshoot. Throw on a sheer white button down (we keep a few in different sizes in our style closet) or strip down pose like the godess your are in some simple white sheets. Sometimes less is more in boudoir!

Fresh Styles for MN Boudoir Photoshoots

Spring is all about fresh starts, and your boudoir photoshoot can be the perfect way to celebrate that. Whether you’re drawn to lush greens, soft pinks, dreamy blues, or crisp whites, adding lighter colors and playful textures and details are an easy way to bring that spring energy into your session.

The best part about a spring boudoir photoshoot is how customizable it is. You can keep things soft and romantic, go bold and colorful, or mix in a little of both to reflect your personality. No matter what you choose, the goal is always the same. You should feel confident, beautiful, and completely like yourself.
