Benny the Skeleton’s First Boudoir Photoshoot

One morning I opened a text message from a client:

Skeleton mannequin buckled in backseat under a red-brown striped blanket, with a pet gate behind it in the car.

“Good morning, I saw there are a few things people could potentially bring in for their shoot with prior consent and I have maybe an odd request. I have a plastic 5 ft skeleton with articulated joints (named Benny), and thought it would be fun to include him in a picture or two. Would that be possible? If not I totally understand, but I thought it would be fun!”

Of course my reply was: “Please bring Benny, we love him already.”

I knew a 5ft, fully articulated, skeleton would be a great addition to a boudoir photoshoot. But I underestimated how much joy it would bring the entire Belle Marie Boudoir team. We were absolutely giddy all day.

Turns out a 5ft, fully articulated, skeleton is the perfect prop for boudoir.

So, without further ado…I present today’s Client Feature Blog: Benny the Skeleton’s Boudoir Photoshoot

Benny was excited and ready to get going for his first boudoir photoshoot! He was all smiles when he sat in MacKenzie's chair for makeup application. We opted for a natural, no-makeup make up look for Benny.

Look at those dewy cheekbones and slightly smokey eye!

Benny got to know our team and we all enjoyed chatting and laughing throughout the day. Olivia was smittened with Benny and they got very close, very quickly. Something about a boudoir photoshoot brings all those emotional walls down and it's easy to bond over the fun of the day.

We showed Benny the different studio sets and style closet to begin planning the photoshoot. Benny opted with the a simple look, and despite all the options in our style closet, went au natural. We loved Benny's confidence!

Olivia provided posing guidance, but Benny was really a quick learner. Look at that expert posing!

We played with props, believe it or not, it's was Benny's idea to incorporate the candle he's holding! What a visionary!

Then Benny took a backseat while his living human friend took the spotlight for her photoshoot. But he jumped in for a few couple's shots! (We can't share these ones for privacy reasons, but they were incredible).

Benny helped us hype up his friend, and was a great addition to our team for the day! He was a great helper as we sat down for his friend's image reveal, and was amazed at how many stunning images we captured. His jaw was almost to the floor the entire time!

After we wrapped up the image selection for his friend, we pulled up the Images from his photoshoot and he was blown away by the beauty of the images. It was a tough selection, but he picked his favorite image to print and bring home.
