She Almost Canceled Her Boudoir Photoshoot. Here's What Happened Instead

We first talked to Ms. L in early February during a consultation call. At the time, she said she’s never done a boudoir but was interested in booking one to gift her husband some photos and to gain more confidence in herself. After booking, Ms. L went all in and pre-paid for the top package! But by the time her session day arrived in April, she was feeling incredibly nervous and wondering if she made a mistake.
“I was extremely nervous, drove 6 hours and still consider canceling that morning.”
Despite the surge of nerves the morning of her photoshoot, once Ms. L met the team and started hair and make up she was quickly able to relax and enjoy the day. Feeling nervous about a boudoir photoshoot is completely normal! Everyone on the team has felt those nerves before such an intimate photoshoot, so we know how important it is to make our clients feel safe, comfortable, and at ease before we start taking photos. “When I first got there I still felt nervous and kind of scared. Within 20 minutes of being there I felt safe welcomed and like I was the prettiest woman in the world.”
The Power of Connection During a Boudoir Photoshoot
It was the connection with the team that stood out to Ms. L when she reflected back on the experience after the photoshoot. We have one hour after you walk through the door to make sure you’re feeling safe and confident enough to hit those poses in lingerie! So making that connection from the start is an important part of the boudoir experience for the
Belle Marie team.
“The laughter, the amazing outfits, feeling instantly like a small family there. Being able to be me and just say stuff out loud.”

I’ve talked to clients who tried boudoir shoots where they never fully relaxed and felt safe enough to confident during the photoshoot. They explained that while they could recognize the photos were technically well done and looked nice, all they could focus on was how they felt while the photos were being taken and the small details of the photos that showed how they felt tense, awkward, or uncertain.

How you feel during the photoshoot matters just as much as the photographer’s technical skills. The photographer could be the absolute best in their field when it comes to creating a visually stunning image, but if they can’t form that emotional connection and make you feel your most confident during the photoshoot, you’re not going to fall in love with the final images.
“My image reveal was amazing, seeing them was like WOW! that's really me. Olivia sure knows how to work that camera and get all the good shots. It was almost like seeing magic happen in real life. so so AMAZING!!!!”
A Gift for Someone Else... Or for Yourself
Ms. L arrived so nervous she almost canceled on the drive in, but by the end of the day she was glad that she stuck with it and did her first boudoir photoshoot! Throughout the day, Ms. L realized, that a boudoir session often ends up being a gift for yourself, even if you originally intended to gift the images or album to a special someone.
“I loved loved loved them. I originally planned on gifting the album to my husband, but it might just be mine now. With the confidence boost it gives.”
A boudoir album is something you'll find yourself pulling off the shelf whenever you want a little confidence boost or a reminder of how amazing, beautiful, strong, and sexy you are! Your partner will definitely appreciate such a thoughtful and unique gift, but the gift of confidence and self-love is the real power of boudoir.
