Who here took senior photos in high school? They were a pretty big deal back in my day (aka the late 2000s). My classmates and I spent months planning outfits, poses, and locations, all to make sure our personality was perfectly displayed in such important portraits.
This past weekend, I spent time with one of my oldest friends, and she pulled out shoeboxes of high school mementos, including a stack of senior photos from our classmates. It was so fun to see how everyone made their portraits unique.
Those little personal touches brought back such warm memories of who each person was back then.
Now, you probably won’t be passing your boudoir photos around asking friends and acquaintances to pick which ones they want wallet-sized (is that still a thing?!), but I still think planning your boudoir photoshoot should be just as thoughtful.
Boudoir is so much more than just sexy pictures. It’s about celebrating your whole self, your confidence, your story, your personality. Some of my favorite boudoir sessions are the ones where a client brought in something totally personal, fun, or unexpected. It always makes the session extra memorable and the photos more meaningful.
Let’s talk about some easy ways to add that personal touch and make your boudoir photoshoot truly yours.
Show Off Your Hobbies
Styling your boudoir photoshoot can go way beyond lingerie. If you have a hobby or interest you love, bring something to the studio that reflects it. Whether it’s a passion for fitness, art, gaming, reading, or something else, there are so many fun and creative ways to show it off in your photos.
We’ve had clients bring books, hand-knit cardigans, exercise gear, paints, a Darth Vader helmet, and even a fire spinning baton (don’t worry we didn’t light it on fire, much to my disappointment…something about “fire safety” and “Tia, we’re inside and everything is flammable!”). If you’re not sure how to work it in, that’s what we’re here for. Just send us a message, and we’ll help brainstorm ways to make your ideas come to life.
Wear What Makes You Feel Amazing
Do you have that one lingerie set that makes you feel like a goddess every time you slip it on? What about those impractical high heels that always have you feeling like you’re ready to strut down a runway? Bring them to the studio!
We’re obsessed with our style closet (seriously, it’s huge), but there’s something special about wearing something that already feels like you. We’ll still pull options from the closet, and together we’ll pick the perfect looks to flatter your body and match your vibe. Add in a few personal items, and your images will feel even more like you.
Add a Special Touch for Your Significant Other
If your session is a gift for a partner, let’s make it even more personal. Do they have a favorite flannel or button down? A team jersey? A meaningful item from your wedding day? Bring it! We once had a client bring her husband’s work boots, denim shorts, and his reflective safety vest for a flirty tribute to her hardworking guy.
Whether it’s playful, romantic, or sentimental, those little details make the gift even more unforgettable. Your partner will already be amazed when they see your boudoir album, but when they see how you added special touches just for them they’ll love them even more!
Boudoir Session That Reflects YOU
At Belle Marie Boudoir, we’re all about creating an experience that feels like it was designed just for you. Whether you bring just yourself or an entire suitcase, our team will help you design a session that reflects your story, your confidence, and your beauty.
We take the time to get to know you before your shoot, so we can create a session that matches your personality and goals. Whether it’s to feel confident in your own skin, to celebrate a new chapter, or to create the best surprise gift ever, we’re here for it.
Your boudoir photos should feel just as personal and powerful as any other milestone, because you are worth celebrating.
