You know that one friend who is absolutely gorgeous but struggles to see it themselves? That was Ashlyn when she came into the Belle Marie Boudoir studio. She was nervous and worried she wouldn’t like her photos, but we took one look at her and knew it was going to be an incredible boudoir photoshoot.

This week, we’re sharing all about Ashlyn’s boudoir photoshoot experience. She came in feeling unsure and nervous, and left seeing the beautiful goddess we all saw the moment she walked in. These are the kinds of transformations that remind us just how powerful boudoir photography can be for confidence and self-love.
“Full of caffeine and nerves.”

After a couple delays due to classic Minnesota winter weather, the time had finally come for the boudoir session Ashlyn
booked six months prior. She had read all the prep emails and guides, filled out her questionnaire, and pre-paid for her package. Everything was set and ready, but those pre-session nerves still hit.
When asked how she felt that morning, Ashlyn recalled that she was, “Jittery! Full of caffeine and nerves.”
“I was so nervous that I'd look at the first picture and immediately see the "healthy relationship" weight I've put on in the last 6 years. I didn't, though. I saw a sexy, confident woman.”
Ashlyn had been wanting to do a boudoir photoshoot for a while. She wanted to capture herself as she is now and celebrate this season of her life. She also loved the idea of creating a one-of-a-kind wedding gift for her fiancé. It became something meaningful for both of them.
“I always wanted to do one and then "someday" turned into "today". I am so happy I took the leap to put myself out there.”
The Jitters Disappear
It didn’t take long for those initial nerves to fade. Ashlyn was able to relax and enjoy the pampering while getting ready with the Belle Marie team. We chatted like old friends and got excited about all the outfit options for her boudoir photoshoot. Olivia was especially excited because Ashlyn’s fiancé is a big Star Wars fan, so she brought in the iconic Princess Leia “slave” costume. Anytime a client brings something fun and personal, Olivia’s creative brain immediately lights up and the ideas start flowing.
Typically, Olivia starts boudoir photoshoots with simple poses on the bed set to help ease clients in and shake off those last few nerves. But by the time hair and makeup were finished, Ashlyn felt confident enough to start with the Leia outfit in some stunning poses. They jumped right in, and it set the tone for an incredible session.
Reflecting on the experience, Ashlyn shared that what stood out most to her was, “Immediately feeling comfortable, giggling with the girls, and having the absolute hardest time narrowing down my favorite pictures.”
We know boudoir can feel vulnerable and even intimidating. Because boudoir photography is all we do, we’ve learned exactly how to help clients feel comfortable, safe, and confident so they can truly enjoy the experience. A boudoir photographer needs more than just technical skills. There are real emotions involved, and creating a supportive environment is just as important as capturing beautiful images.
A Challenging Image Reveal (in the best way possible)
When Olivia knows she captured something extra special, she gives me a little look before the image reveal. It’s her way of saying, “Good luck narrowing these down.” And honestly, she’s does this every time she hands it over to me for Image Reveals.
Ashlyn’s images were stunning, but even she was surprised. “I was shocked at how good my pictures looked even before editing. The reveal did wonders for my mental health and body image.”
We took our time going through her photos and narrowing them down to fit her package. Since she was creating an album as a wedding gift, we made sure everything flowed together into a cohesive final product. “The album is beautiful! It feels so luxurious and really adds to the experience. It is a gift for both my fiancé and me.”
Why Minnesota Boudoir is the best?
“10/10. I have been telling all my girlfriends to do it. They all have the same fears I had, but then I show them my pictures, and they cannot get over how good I look.”
“Take the leap! You'll absolutely be nervous, but nerves are good; it means you are living and expanding your comfort zone.”
At Belle Marie Boudoir, helping women feel confident and empowered is something we’re truly passionate about. Yes, this is our business, but it’s so much more than that. We believe deeply in the impact boudoir photography can have on how women see themselves.
We build real connections with our clients during their time in the studio. There’s laughter, conversation, and sometimes even a few happy tears. You might walk into our Minnesota boudoir studio as a stranger, but you’ll leave feeling like a friend. A friend we’re probably still talking about later because we’re obsessed with how amazing you are.
