"I am soooooo happy I finally took the plunge!!" - Ms Elaine's Belle Marie Boudoir Photoshoot

This weekend Olivia and I had a table at the Rockwoods Bridal Show in Ostego, MN. We get to talk to so many brides looking for a special and intimate wedding gift, but we also chat with a lot of their moms! Time and time again we heard from the moms that they love the idea of a boudoir photoshoot, but feel like they’re too old to do one for themselves now.

We actually hear that sentiment from women over 40 a lot! There seems to be this idea that a boudoir photoshoot is for woman in their 20s or 30s. But that couldn’t be further from the truth! Boudoir is for women of all ages (as long as you’re over 18)!

Our team love love loves working with women over 40! There’s something special about capturing the beauty of women at different stages in life! Personally, I only just started feeling more sure of myself in my mid-30's and I know I have so much more growing to do as a person! I don't think I would have gotten as much out of a boudoir photoshoot when I was 21 as I did during my most recent session at 34.

Our 40+ clients come to us with so much life experience and they’re often at a point where they’re feeling more self assured about who they are as a person. So when Ms. Elaine walked into the studio with the goal of doing a boudoir photoshoot solely to document her confidence and personality as a woman in her mid 40’s, we knew we were in for a fun day!

Meet Ms. Elaine

Ms. Elaine reached out after seeing one of our ads on Instagram. She has been wanting to do a boudoir photoshoot for years, but hadn’t been able to take the plunge. After chatting with our MUA, MacKenzie during a consultation calls, Ms. Elaine finally felt ready to book a session!

She explained to MacKenzie that she was finally happy with her life and feels like she’s in her prime! She wanted to capture the happiness and self assurance at this current point in life so she can have something to look back on to remember this part of her journey. “This boudoir session was 1000% for ME and about ME.”

All In

Once she decided to “go for it” and finally book a boudoir shoot, Ms. Elaine went all in to get the most out of the experience! She pre-selected our second biggest package, the Platinum Collection. Since she pre-paid, she received some extra specialty sets as a bonus! Ms. Elaine went with our newest additions to the studio, the Book Nook and Liquor Bar sets.

Soon after meeting, we were in love with Ms. Elaine confidence. She told us she, “wanted a professional to capture my confidence, smile and love for life in photos!” Even with her confidence, she was just a little nervous leading up to her shoot. However, Ms. Elaine quickly warmed up during hair and makeup while chatting with our team. She brought such a fun and positive energy to the studio!

The Belle Marie Boudoir Experience

When deciding which boudoir photographer to book, Ms. Elaine search for someone who’s clients didn’t looked overly posed, she wanted to avoid photos where “the subject doesn't look relaxed or like they are enjoying themselves.” She wanted to capture HER personality, not just get some pretty photos.

Olivia and Ms. Elaine immediately hit it off and excitedly planned her bonus sets and selected the perfect lingerie for each set. The photoshoot was filled with laughter and they both had so much fun working their way around the studio, capturing Ms. Elaine’s bright personality, beauty, and confidence!

After a great photoshoot, Ms. Elaine was excited to see all her photos during the Same Day Image Reveal! The Platinum Package she selected came with 40 images in an Online Gallery and in a 10x10 album. Ms. Elaine, loved her photos so much she couldn’t narrow them down to just 40. So she upgraded to get all 135 of her photos in the Online Gallery and 55 of her top photos in the 10x10 album!

Her Advice to Anyone Who Hasn’t Done a Boudoir Photoshoot

“If you're thinking about doing a boudoir session solely for yourself, but maybe second guessing because it's a bit "taboo"....just do it!!!  You can't give from an empty cup.  I fully support women doing a boudoir session as a gift for a spouse or partner, BUT let me tell you...the only person that matters in the long run is yourself!!  Approaching this experience as a personal gift and celebration of ME shifted my entire mindset.  I had nothing to prove.  No ones opinions to consider. “
