Hey there! I’m MacKenzie, the makeup artist at Belle Marie Boudoir in Minnesota. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share how I became part of this amazing boudoir studio. I'm a born and raised Minnesota native! In my free time I love to read. Nothing beats going for a walk with an audiobook! If you need a recommendation for a good romance book, I'm your gal!

I also love to bake, and I make a lot of tastey goodies from stratch. One of my recent favorites were pumpkin bagels that I baked into the shape of little pumpkins! Combined with some homemade cream cheese they were just as delicious as they were adorable.

From Art to Makeup

Growing up, I was always drawn to art. I loved drawing and thought for sure I was going to go to art school one day. I even got to watch a friend have her portrait painted by her mother-in-law, which totally amazed me. That artist later asked me to sit for a portrait myself. It was such a cool experience, but as I neared the end I realized that art school wasn’t for me.

Right around that time, my parents finally let me start wearing makeup. And that’s when everything changed. I instantly fell in love with the art of makeup. I started watching every makeup tutorial I could find on YouTube. I practiced all the time and loved seeing how makeup could transform a person, not just how they looked but how they felt.

When I decided to turn my love of makeup into a career, I asked around for advice. One artist told me I had to go to Faces Etc of MN, and I’m so glad I listened. I attended there in 2014, and that’s where my professional makeup journey really began.

How I Found Belle Marie Boudoir

I was working as a freelance artist when I saw a post from Belle Marie Boudoir in a Facebook group for local makeup artists. I had heard great things about their Minneapolis area boudoir studio and jumped at the chance to apply. I officially joined the team in summer 2025 and have loved every minute.

Joining Belle Marie Boudoir has allowed me to combine my love for makeup and helping women feel their best. This studio is a space filled with positivity, creativity, and empowerment, and I feel lucky to be part of it.

My Role at the Studio

At Belle Marie Boudoir, I handle hair and makeup for all our boudoir photoshoots. I work closely with each client to create a look they love, whether that’s natural and glowy or bold and glamorous. My goal is to help you feel pampered, beautiful, and 100% you.

I also help out with client consultations. If you schedule a call to chat about your upcoming session, there’s a good chance I’ll be the one answering. I love helping people plan their boudoir photoshoot and ease any nerves they might have before their session.

And of course, I’m there for support during your boudoir shoot. From fixing a stray lash to cheering you on, I want your experience to be fun and stress-free. Boudoir photography is powerful, and I love being part of something that helps women feel strong and confident.

Why I Love Boudoir Photography

Boudoir photography has changed so many lives, including mine. Every week, I meet incredible women who come in nervous about boudoir, unsure of what to expect. But after their photoshoot, they leave with a huge smile and a new sense of confidence.

Watching someone transform in the makeup chair and then light up during their session is the best part of my job.  I’m a total people person, so getting to connect with our clients is the best! I’ve already heard so many incredible stories from women of all backgrounds.

Everyone comes in with their own reason for doing a boudoir session, and I love learning about what brought them to our studio. Whether it's a maternity boudoir shoot, a gift for a partner, or something just for themselves, every session is unique and meaningful.

Working at a photography studio like Belle Marie has been such a gift. We have a beautiful space in Ramsey, MN; just a short drive from the Minneapolis/St.Paul metro. We’re a small team but we’re passionate about boudoir and love the magic we create through boudoir.
