One of the most exciting parts of prepping for your boudoir photoshoot is picking out your outfits. With a style closet as large and diverse as ours at Belle Marie Boudoir, it can get a little overwhelming! That’s where our team steps in to help. We guide every client through outfit selections based on size, color preferences, personal style, and the overall vibe you want to capture in your session.

But there are a few hidden gems in our Minnesota boudoir studio that we suggest all the time (pieces we know look incredible on and in the final photos) yet they don’t get chosen nearly as often as we think they should. Seriously, most of the time I spent creating this blog post was spent searching for photos of these specific looks.

We’re spilling the tea on some of our favorite underrated boudoir outfits and accessories that we love seeing in sessions. These are pieces that get us really excited when clients pick them because we know it's going to result in some amazing images. If you're looking for boudoir outfit ideas that are unique, flattering, and photo-ready, this list is for you!

  1. Baby Diamond Bodysuit

Woman in black outfit lying on a white floor with geometric light shapes on a gray wall behind her. Calm and modern atmosphere.

Yes, I already raved about this one in our Neon BodyScape blog... and I’ll never stop raving about this piece.. The Baby Diamond bodysuit is a barely-there mesh number covered in tiny rhinestones that sparkle like the night sky under our studio lights.

It may look doll-sized on the hanger, but it’s super stretchy and fits beautifully across a range of body types. Trust us, if we suggest it, it's because we know it will fit, So don’t be deterred when we pull out the tiniest bodysuit from our closet, it might surprise you!

  1. Velvet Bodysuits

Smiling woman in a red velvet outfit sits on a white bed. She has long, dark hair and a star tattoo on her arm, creating a joyful mood.

Okay, velvet may not be everyone’s favorite fabric (we get that some folks have sensory issues with it), but if you’re into that soft, luxurious texture we highly recommend donning some velvet for your boudoir. Our strapless velvet bodysuits come in a variety of rich colors and sizes, and they’re perfect for clients who want a more elegant, classic boudoir look.

They’re also a great choice if you want a bit more tummy coverage without sacrificing style or sensuality. When I asked Olivia what her most underrated pieces are, she immediately replied that it was our velvet bodysuits!

  1. Long Sleeve Bodysuits

Woman in green lace lingerie smiles while lying on a navy bedspread with fur throw. Bright, elegant room with white curtains.

It may seem counterintuitive to pull on something long sleeve for a boudoir, but there’s a reason we always pull out a couple long sleeve pieces for every client.  The look is incredibly flattering, and they add a chic twist to your shoot. Our long sleeve pieces incorporate mesh, lace, sexy cutouts, or deep plunging necklines that will spice up your look!

A long-sleeve bodysuit is ideal if you’re feeling a little shy at the start of your session or just want a sleek, fashion-forward look. Don’t underestimate how sexy these can be!

  1. Crowns and Tiaras

Woman with a tiara sits in a sparkly gown on a soft blanket. The room has white walls and bright light, creating an elegant, serene mood.

There’s no better time to embrace your inner goddess than during a boudoir photoshoot. We have a gorgeous collection of crowns that clients can wear with everything from dramatic gowns to barely-there lingerie. One of our favorites? Pairing a crown with the ACOTAR-Inspired Under the Mountain Dress for the full fantasy moment. You'll feel powerful, feminine, and like the main character you are.

  1. Stockings, Tights & Garter Sets

Woman in black mask and lingerie poses against a textured wall, holding a leash. Soft light filters through curtains, creating a dramatic mood.

If you’re searching for boudoir accessories that instantly elevate your look, stockings and tights are the way to go. There are so many options, from fishnets, sheer thigh-highs, patterned tights, and those sexy back-seam styles for a vintage feel.

Many of our lingerie sets include garter belts, and adding a pair of stockings is the perfect finishing touch.

You’ll love the way they elongate your legs and give your poses that extra sultry edge. Bring your own pair or borrow one of the many pairs in our style closet!

  1. White Lingerie (Not Just for Brides!)

A person in lingerie poses confidently on a cream sofa, with a gray wall and sheer curtains in the background, creating a serene mood.

We usually get requests for white pieces from bride-to-be clients, but it’s an underrated neutral that works beautifully for any session. It creates a soft, natural, and ethereal look that photographs beautifully. Whether you’re going for angelic, fresh, or vintage romance vibes, white lingerie is a must-try for anyone planning a boudoir photoshoot.

  1. The Tulle Robe

Woman in sheer black robe on a blue velvet couch poses with a confident gaze. Neon light glows in the background, adding drama.

You’ve probably seen this one on Pinterest a hundred times, and for good reason. Our pink and navy tulle robes are flowy, opulent, and create that Old Hollywood Glamour vibe. Slip one on and you’ll feel instantly elevated. We love starting sessions in these robes, they create beautiful movement in photos and help clients ease into their shoot while feeling glamorous and covered.
